Lewa Marathon gets back on the road
[Christine Ndindi]

Of peaks, pleasure and pain
[Thorn Mulli]

“Thorn. Can I talk to you?”

Julian Wright, our expedition planner, who had been generally calm, patient, and mostly expressionless for most of the trip suddenly spoke with a mien and urgency that gave away the gravity of the situation.

“I have arranged for the mountain rescue team to take you down. You lea.......

ROPING IN TAITA’S TOURISM HERITAGE
[Travelog]

You probably know that Kenya is one of the biggest producers of sisal in the world. But I bet that you have no clue that the world’s supply of dart boards is significantly dependent on Kenyan-grown sisal as a raw material. This reality hit bullseye a fortnight ago during a fresh bucket-list experience courtesy of one of the newest lodges to set up shop in Taita Taveta County. Aptly named Hidana Lodge, after one of the four varieties of sisal grown on Teita Sisal Estate, this luxury hospitality opt sits at the heart of a wildlife conservancy which itself is located on the edge of a working farm located a sto.......

Road trip To The Effortless Beaute, Chala
[Adiey Joe]
It must be the love for the roads, or perhaps for long drives within longer distances that are uncatchable and with kilometres unmatchable, which thrill us all to move far away from the city. Could it possibly be a twinnie to Tsavo East, Ambosel.......

At home with champions
[Mark Denver]

Athletics is arguably Kenya’s biggest selling point, second only to our wildlife. It is not news that the concentration of Kenyan running talent is in the North Rift. This undulating countryside has nurtured more long distance titleholders than we can keep up with. While the naming system prefixed by the Kip/Kib for boys or Che/Chep of the resident Kalenjin language-speaking communities might make it confusing to tell the champions apart, the sheer abundance of talent is unquestionable. One would assume that these champions are treated like small gods at home like they are abroad, Far fr.......

Travel To Lamu Like A Local
[Distory]

I see it as it looked one afternoon In August,-by a fresh soft breeze o’erblown. The swiftness of the tide, the light thereon, A far-off sail, white as a crescent moon. The shining waters with pale currents strewn, The quiet fishing-smacks, the Eastern cove, The semi-circle of its dark, green grove. The luminous grasses, and the merry sun.......
